Society of Women Engineer Scholarship (SWE)
SWE Detroit annually awards scholarships to exceptional high school senior women who intend to pursue a college degree in engineering.
The enclosed scholarship application must be filled out by the student (and signed by a counselor) and postmarked or e-mailed byMarch 1, 2017.
SWE, at a national level, also has many scholarships for outstanding high school female students. This application form can be found on the National SWE website: www.swe.org.
The United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) is an intensive week-long educational experience and scholarship sponsored by the United States Senate foroutstanding high school students who are interested in pursuing careers in public service. If you are a high school junior or senior already serving as an elected official in your student body or other state or community organization, you may already be qualified to apply....During Washington Week the student delegates meet and learn from the highest level elected and appointed officials in Washington. The delegates attend briefings and meetings with senators, the president, a justice of the Supreme Court, Cabinet members, federal agency leaders and senior members of the national media....The 104 student delegates also receive a $10,000 undergraduate college scholarship to the college or university of their choice with encouragement to continue coursework in government and history.

Award Amounts:
- 2-Year Institution: $1,500 renewable two times
- 4-Year Institution: $3,000 renewable four times
- If a student begins at a 2-year institution and transfers to a 4-year institution, they may transfer their award to the 4-year institution and it will be renewable three times.
- Economically disadvantaged (currently qualifies for the free or reduced lunch program), youth of color, OR first generation in your family to graduate with a 4-year degree
- Resident of Washtenaw County, with preference given to graduates of a Washtenaw County public high school
- Will be or are a high school graduate within the last 24 months
- Enrolling in college for the first time
- Minimum GPA 2.0
- To renew a scholarship, recipient must be enrolled in a college or university, maintain progress towards degree attainment, and submit his/her transcript to AAACF for review each year

Gilbert Darling Memorial Agricultural Scholarship
This scholarship is an endowed scholarship in memory of Gilbert Darling, who was an innovative and life-long dairy and cash crop farmer in the Milan area. He was active in Church, local government, and agricultural organizations. He was a strong supporter of education, youth programs, 4-H, and FFA.
The scholarship will be awarded to a student who plans to enroll in post-secondary education in the areas of agricultural production, agricultural mechanical engineering, agricultural research, agricultural education, veterinary science, genetic or chemical research and engineering. The award amount will vary from year-to-year.
